Tab

The expense tracker that asks where your money went

Tab is a free expense tracker built for Singapore: you pay like you always do, Tab reads your bank's payment alert and asks you once what it was, and one tap logs it.

Why a normal expense tracker fails

Most budgeting apps need you to remember every purchase and type it in. You don't, so you stop. Your bank remembers every transaction — it just can't tell you what any of them meant. NETS QR 5483***210 was a hawker stall, but which one? STRIPE* 4KLM89QR was a subscription, but which one renewed? Tab catches you in the moment, not weeks later.

How Tab works

  • Your bank emails you a transaction alert (most SG banks and payment apps do).
  • Tab asks you on Telegram: “S$5.00 at AH HUAT F&B — what category?” with one-tap buttons.
  • One tap, it's logged. Next time at the same shop, Tab logs it automatically and just tells you.

What Tab does

  • Reads payment alerts from the senders it supports — OCBC, DBS/POSB, PayLah!, YouTrip, Grab, Shopee, PayPal and ShopBack — with more added over time.
  • Sorts spending into your own categories, and auto-logs repeat merchants.
  • Detects subscriptions and duplicate charges.
  • Splits bills with friends over PayNow.
  • Budgets and a 9pm daily recap so the month never surprises you.
  • CSV export and your own Google Sheet — your data stays yours.

What Tab needs

You connect Gmail through Google's official permission screen. Access is read-only (the gmail.readonly scope), Tab only opens bank and payment alert emails, and you can revoke it any time. Tab never asks for your bank login. You can also just use it on Telegram.
